When to Convert

01

Photos too large for messaging or email

Converting a heavy PNG or TIFF original to JPG can shrink the file 5–10Γ—, letting it pass attachment limits on messengers and mail services without resizing.

02

Faster blogs and websites

Batch-converting JPG/PNG assets to WebP typically cuts their size by 25–30% while preserving visual quality. Direct impact on Lighthouse scores and SEO rankings.

03

Transparent background disappeared

JPG doesn't support transparency. If the empty space around a logo or icon matters, convert to PNG or WebP instead.

04

Print shop rejected my PNG

The print and publishing industry expects TIFF β€” a lossless high-quality standard. Convert your PNG masters to TIFF before sending them in.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is WebP?

WebP is a modern image format developed by Google. It provides 26% smaller file sizes than PNG (lossless) and 25-34% smaller than JPG (lossy) while supporting transparency. It's now supported by all major browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

What's the difference between PNG and JPG?

PNG uses lossless compression with no quality loss and supports transparency. It's ideal for icons, screenshots, and logos. JPG (JPEG) uses lossy compression resulting in smaller file sizes, making it better for photographs and social media images.

Is there quality loss when converting images?

Converting to PNG, BMP, or TIFF is lossless β€” no quality loss. Converting to JPG may cause some loss depending on quality settings (1-100); at 80 or above, the difference is virtually unnoticeable. WebP supports both lossless and lossy modes.

How many files can I convert at once?

There is no artificial limit on the number of files. However, since all processing happens in your browser's memory, uploading hundreds of files at once may slow things down depending on your device. On a typical PC, you can comfortably convert tens of MB in a single batch.

Where are the converted files stored?

Converted files are only saved to your download folder when you click the download button. Nothing β€” original or converted β€” is ever uploaded to IMGLOO's servers, and in-memory data is cleared the moment you close the browser tab.

Does it work with iPhone HEIC photos?

Safari on macOS and iOS can decode HEIC using the OS codec, so conversion works. Chrome, Firefox, and Windows browsers lack a native HEIC decoder and cannot convert directly. In that case, change your iPhone's [Settings β†’ Camera β†’ Formats] to "Most Compatible" to shoot in JPG going forward.
